The Pennsylvania Wilds
The Pennsylvania Wilds is a 12.5 county rural wonderland that takes up the north central portion of PA.
The work that we have done with the tourism and economic development group in that region is just as expansive. Aside from developing their first ever regional tourism campaign and providing creative direction for a much-needed new website, we created three distinct program brands that all support the sustainability and economic development of the region.
Industry
Components
The PA Wilds Center for Entrepreneurship
The economic development program of the region is the engine that drives the many, many programs and efforts that propel the community forward. They’re never not working. They’re passionate about preserving and honoring their natural resources. And the fact that they were helmed by a strong and beloved female director basically designed the identity for us. (Basically.)
The Wilds Cooperative of Pennsylvania
Through an extensive intel-gathering process, we met with, learned from, and developed a name and identity for an organization of talented artisans that make their homes – and their art – in the PA Wilds. We then created a comprehensive toolkit of promotional, sales, and retail-ready materials to support these small local businesses to allow them to (literally) fly the flag of their region’s artisan brand.
The PA Wilds Conservation Shop
Remember “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie”? Well, swap “Mouse” with “Artisans” and “Cookie” with “Brand” and you’ll be where we were in 2017. The next logical step for the region was a shop that carried the artisans’ creations and used the proceeds to go back and support the conservation and stewardship efforts in the region. That shop is now a growing chain of non-profit locally-sourced, locally-run retail outlets.
Proud Moment
Like the region itself, our work with the PA Wilds was vast and deep and varied. Filled with big victories and little wins, there are a number of moments we could point to that made us proud. Oddly, though, it wasn’t until we had moved on from our day-to-day relationship that the proudest moment of all occurred. Over the 4 years we worked with the PA Wilds team, we created a series of brands for their various agencies and initiatives. Now, nearly 6 years later, those brands continue to shine and thrive. The tools – both tangible and inspirational – that we put into place are being used to their full strength by a capable internal team who continues to breathe new life into the work that we did together.
